A world record attempt for the largest bagel and lox sandwich will take place this Friday at Acme Smoked Fish, where attendees can watch the humongous sandwich be made and later take a bite out of it.
The free event will be held at midday on Feb. 9 (national bagel and lox day) at the Acme Smoked Fish production facility, located at 30 Gem St.
The smoked fish purveyor, led by co-CEO Adam Caslow, will team up with Matt Pomerantz of the Manhattan-based Zucker’s Bagels to make the giant sandwich before the crowd.
The carefully-constructed sandwich will be made using an everything bagel, cream cheese, Nova Scotia smoked salmon from Acme, tomatoes, red onions, and capers, as per Zucker’s traditional recipe. It will also be weighed by Guinness World Record inspectors on site before it is cut up and served to the crowd.
Coffee will be provided by the Brooklyn Roasting Company during the event.
There is currently no record holder for the largest cream cheese and smoked salmon/lox bagel, according to the Guinness World Records.
