Demolition permits have been filed for a Williamsburg warehouse on Wythe Avenue, potentially signaling the beginning of the developer’s plans to bring a nine-story office and retail building to the site.

Building records filed yesterday show plans to demolish a one-story warehouse on 85 Wythe Ave. The warehouse was better known as the site of Colossal Media, a company that specializes in hand painted murals and advertisements.

The developer, Cayuga Capital, revealed plans over three years ago to build a 100,000 square-foot office and retail building at the site, which extends along Wythe Avenue between N. 10 and N.11 Streets, and goes about halfway down the block toward Berry Street. The plans came as the group announced the warehouse’s purchase for $14.5 million—the last piece of property needed to join the rest of the properties they acquired along Wythe Avenue.

Building records filed in 2014 show that the proposed building, with an address of 79 Wythe Ave., would be 125 feet tall, and span just under 123,00 square feet of space. Retail space would be completely reserved for the ground floor, and floors three through six would be for medical offices. The remaining floors will hold additional office space, with an eatery on the ninth floor.

In addition, enclosed parking for 342 cars would be available below ground level floors and on the first and second floor.

Cayuga Capital told YIMBY in 2016 that the Colossal warehouse would be the only building undergoing demolition. The other two industrial buildings on Wythe Avenue will remain and are to be renovated for new tenants. The developer also said work on the office building would begin in the summer of 2017.

Cayuga Capital did not immediately respond to questions on the project’s timeline, and whether their plans released years ago are indeed in action or have changed.
