Police have arrested the suspect wanted in an attempted rape that happened in Greenpoint last week.

Darryl Williams, 25, was arrested on June 23 at 5 p.m., according to police and court records.

Williams, from Crown Heights, faces several charges including assault, attempted criminal sex act, sexual abuse, and strangulation.

Williams allegedly forced his way into a 37-year-old woman’s Greenpoint apartment at around 3 p.m. on June 21 and demanded that the victim perform a sex act on him, according to police.

The woman, threatened with a supposed knife, punched him in the groin and tried to run away, but he allegedly tackled her and tried to remove her dress, police say.

The victim screamed and was struck with the door, which caused a laceration to the back of her head, according to police.

The suspect then ran away, and the woman was taken to Woodhull Hospital for her injuries.

Williams is due back in court on June 29.
