Pelicana Chicken, the South Korean-based chain focusing on Korean fried chicken, is gearing up for a spring opening on Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint.

The restaurant will open at 941 Manhattan Ave., the former site of Yummy Taco, sometime in the next two months, according to Jong Hyung Kim, the owner of the Greenpoint location.

The chain, founded in 1982, serves chicken in whole and half portions (along with a boneless option) with over 50 sauce varieties, including their signature recipe, garlic, scallion with sauce, and their popular “yellow snowing cheese”. Drumsticks and wings are also available with the same sauce options.

Other menu items include burgers, chicken teriyaki, rice, and fries.

Kim said the restaurant holds 36 seats, and will open every day from 12 p.m. until midnight. She has also applied for a wine and beer license.

The Pelicana Chicken franchise in Greenpoint is the first restaurant Kim will run after working in the food industry since immigrating to the United States from South Korea 22 years ago.

The Greenpoint location is the award-winning chain’s first Brooklyn location, with three locations in Queens and one in New Jersey. A Virginia location is also in store for the company.
