Man Punches 63-Year-Old Woman’s Face in Greenpoint Lobby, Steals Purse: NYPD

Police are on the lookout for a man who was reported to have stolen a 63-year-old woman’s purse after punching her square in the face inside the lobby of her Greenpoint residence.

The incident happened on Tuesday at around 10:27 p.m., when the woman was walking inside her building near Morgan Avenue and Sutton Street, police said, just blocks from McGolrick Park.

The suspect then approached her in the lobby and hit her face with a close fist, which caused the woman to fall to the floor, according to police. After punching her, the robber ran from the scene with the victim’s purse, which had around $40 in it and a cellphone, police said.

The 63-year-old was transported to a nearby hospital, where she has since been released after receiving treatment for her injuries.

The suspect, shown in a photograph released by the NYPD, is described as Black, and last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, dark sweat pants, and gray, white and black sneakers.
