A Brooklyn man was arrested yesterday for a series of vehicle arsons in the Greenpoint and East Williamsburg areas, FDNY announced earlier today.

Jonathan Perez, 28, was charged with arson, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief in relation to three vehicle fires that he allegedly set from March to May of this year.

Perez allegedly began his spree in March by igniting a box truck parked in front of 1150 Metropolitan Ave. in East Williamsburg. Later that month, on March 24, around 3 a.m., Perez allegedly set ablaze a green Fiat parked near 37 Driggs Avenue.

The final fire took place just last week. On May 12, around 6:45 a.m., Perez allegedly broke into the back seat of a 2018 Hyundai Sonata, parked near Humboldt Street and Nassau Avenue and lit the interior of the car on fire. The entire vehicle was soon engulfed in flames.

Police were able to identify the suspect after a series of witness interviews and reviewing surveillance camera footage. On Monday, images of Perez taken from surveillance cameras inside a bodega following the third incident were released to the public. Three days later, he was apprehended inside his Brooklyn home.

“Arson is a dangerous criminal act that shows no regard for the safety and well-being of FDNY members and the people and property we are sworn to protect,” said Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro. “Thanks to the excellent investigative work by our Fire Marshals in the Auto Fraud Squad, the suspect wanted for this senseless act has been apprehended.”

Perez has a long list of prior criminal activity. At the time of his arrest, he was out on parole for a 2017 robbery. His records show 10 prior arrests—eight felonies and two misdemeanors—including an arrest for a 2009 robbery pattern in the North Brooklyn area.

Why do you copy and paste the same racist comment on every article?

I’m shocked that ANOTHER Trump Lover is super racist, but is there any reason to believe that at all?

I’m just assuming you don’t have a single piece of evidence, you’re just really emotinal.

Huh? "Very fine people" is how Trump describe the murderous Trump rally in Charlottesville.

You could at least try a little harder at being the exact stereotype of the racist Trump Lover.

Did this article mention AOC, or do you just think about her a LOT?
