Applications are now open for 140 affordable rental units at 23 India St., a new building by the Greenpoint waterfront that is adjacent to a 40-story development dubbed the tallest in the neighborhood.
The six-story building at the corner of West Street and India Street offers studios, one bedroom, and two bedroom units for qualified New Yorkers earning 40 percent to 60 percent of the area median income (AMI).
An AMI of 60 percent, for example, translates to an income between $44,160 and $57,240 for a family of four. The monthly rent at 23 India St. under these income and household requirements would be $1,230.
Studios at 23 India St. start at $613 for a single person earning between $22,903 and $26,720, or 40 percent of the AMI.
Residents of Brooklyn Community Board 1, which covers Greenpoint and Williamsburg, will be given preference for 50 percent of the units.
Amenities at 23 India St. include a community room, interior courtyard, and a laundry room per floor.
Applications are due no later than March 19, and can be submitted online or through mail.
