Runners are set to flood the streets of Greenpoint this Sunday for the 25th annual Get to the ‘Point! 5K Run.

The run begins at Driggs Avenue and Newel Street, and incorporates McCarren Park, Franklin Street, and Manhattan Avenue before ending at Humboldt Street and Driggs Avenue.

The event includes a children’s dash component, and an award ceremony for the top finishers in the 5K and dash. An overall male and female winner will be awarded, and the top three male and female finishers in each of eight age groups will receive trophies.

The top three boys and girls in the children’s dash from three age groups will receive medals.

Registration for the 5K costs $35, and can be done online. Children’s dashes are $20, but kids under the age of 12 who want to participate in both the 5K and dashes can pay $30 for the package.

Online registrants will receive a special 25th anniversary T-shirt and free admission to the pre and post race parties.

The deadline to register online is Oct. 11.

Participants can also register on race day for $45. The cost to register on the day for children’s dashes  is $25, with kids competing in both the 5K and dashes paying $40.

Race-day registrants will get free admission to the post-race party, but are not guaranteed to receive the special 25th anniversary T-shirt.

The race is organized by the St. Stanislaus Kosta Catholic Academy, with all proceeds going to support the school. Broadway Stages, additionally, is the title sponsor for this year’s race.

“Over the past 25 years, our wonderful event has truly grown and developed to become one of the most popular, fun, family-oriented race events held in the metropolitan area each year,” said the 5K’s race committee in a statement.

Past events have attracted more than 600 people from around the city and the tri-state area.
