A developer is planning to build an eight-story, eight-unit property with a small commercial component on the site of an 89-year-old structure on Metropolitan Avenue.

The developer, Manhattan-based Caro Enterprises, filed construction plans with the Department of Buildings on Wednesday for the mixed-used project, set to rise at 624 Metropolitan Ave., near the Lorimer St. L and Metropolitan Ave. G train station. The building is currently the home of vintage furniture and collectibles store New Old New.

The residential portion of the building will be 11,110 square feet, averaging out to more than 1,300 square feet per unit. Two of the building’s apartments will be multi-story, with a triplex apartment spanning the basement, first and second floors, and a duplex on the seventh and eighth floors. The ground floor will house 373 square feet of retail space.

The developer, who purchased the property in 2016 for $2,825,000, has not yet filed plans to demolish the existing two-story building.

Caro Enterprises did not respond to request for comment.
