Brooklyn Public Library card holders now have the option of borrow a musical instrument for free, the library system recently announced.
Adult patrons at the Brooklyn Public Library, in partnership with The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, can select one out of several musical instruments to borrow for up to two months.
Instruments include full size violins, acoustic guitars, ukeleles, electronic keyboards, and single and four-pad practice drum pad sets. Music stands are also available, and can be borrowed along with one instrument.
Brooklyn Public Library patrons can request to borrow an instrument by first emailing [email protected] and asking whether an instrument is available to borrow.
The library will then be in touch to schedule an appointment to check out the instrument if the desired instrument is available. A loan agreement form will also be filled out at the meeting.
Instruments can be returned and borrowed at the reference desk of the art and music division at the library, located at 10 Grand Army Plaza.
Practically all the instruments have been borrowed since last Wednesday, when the program was announced, the library said on its webpage.
