The woman was walking near the southwest corner of Division Avenue and Rodney Street around 6 p.m. when an unknown man approached her from behind, picked her up and slammed her onto the sidewalk, police said.
He then knelt beside her and repeatedly punched her in the face and body while she lay on the sidewalk, video shows. He tried to take her pants off as she was on the ground dazed, before fleeing on foot down Division Avenue towards Keap Street, police said.
The victim suffered severe head and body trauma and was rushed to Brooklyn Hospital, where she was placed in a medically-induced coma.
Police described the suspect as an being of light complexion and with a full beard. He was last seen wearing a yellow hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored pants and red sneakers.
