A slew of Greenpoint-based artists will open their work spaces to the public this weekend in an annual event to support the arts in the neighborhood.

“Greenpoint Open Studios,”  the name of the event, will take place on June 2 and June 3, with studios around Greenpoint opening from midday to 6 p.m. on both days.

The event includes painters, sculptors, film makers, artisans, and more showcasing their work and studios in groups with guided tours and interactive sessions. Dozens of locations are available to visit throughout Greenpoint, spanning from Newtown Creek down to Metropolitan Avenue.

Each day there will be three guided tours lasting two hours each, with themes relating to the artists’ location within Greenpoint, or the medium they work with. One tour, for example, focuses on South Greenpoint, while another centers on how architects and other artists conceive of a home.

While individual locations are open to the public for free all weekend, tours are priced at $20, include a stop at a local bar with one free beer.

Other events as part of the open studios event include a launch party on Friday, the Go! Green Brooklyn Festival on Saturday, and dance party fundraisers for artists.

For more information, including registration, artists, a map of locations, and other events, visit Greenpoint Open Studios online.

The event was established in 2014, and is organized by Greenpointers.com.
